BNP reinstates Chittagong leaders suspended over relocating cars of S Alam

BNP has reinstated the primary memberships of three Chittagong leaders who were suspended due to their alleged involvement in relocating luxury vehicles owned by the S Alam Group.

The leaders – Abu Sufian, former convener of Chittagong South District BNP; Enamul Haque Enam, former joint convener; and S M Mamun Mia, former convener of Karnaphuli Upazila BNP – have had their party memberships reinstated, which had been suspended on September 1 of this year, according to a press release signed by BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

The press release said that the leaders’ memberships were restored after their appeal was reviewed.

The suspensions had followed allegations that 14 luxury cars owned by members of the S Alam Group – including prestigious brands like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, and Range Rover – were moved from a warehouse in the Kalurghat Industrial Area on August 30, following the removal of the Awami League government.

These vehicles were used by the family of the group’s Chairman, Saiful Alam Masud.

The incident attracted significant attention after videos of the event circulated widely on social media.

In the aftermath, BNP also dissolved the convening committee of its Chittagong South District unit.
