25 trainee ASPs served show-cause notices for disorderly behaviour

Twenty-five assistant superintendents of police (ASP) from the 40th BCS undergoing training at the Bangladesh Police Academy in Sardah, Rajshahi, have been issued show-cause notices for allegedly "walking disorderly" instead of running as instructed during a training session.

Assistant Inspector General (AIG) Enamul Haque Sagor confirmed on Monday that the ASPs had been ordered to show cause for breaching discipline.

A letter signed by Police Superintendent (Basic Training-2) Md Tanveer Salehin Emon, on behalf of the academy principal, was issued on Sunday, asking the 25 to provide an explanation within three days.

The letter said: “On November 26, during the weekly training program’s afternoon session, after the parade began as per the instructions of senior authorities, the responsible company CASI instructed participants to run as part of the central command. However, you, along with a few others, conspired not to run and instead started walking disorderly.

“This behaviour disrupted the running of other trainees on the field. Despite repeated instructions to run, you ignored the orders and began making derogatory remarks. Your actions, along with those of your associates, created a chaotic environment on the field.”

The letter further explained that as a probationary ASPs, such behaviour severely disrupted the overall training activities and encouraged indiscipline among other trainees.

The accused have been asked to explain in writing within three days why disciplinary action should not be recommended against them to higher authorities.
