Adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development, Cooperatives, and Youth and Sports, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain, has said that Sheikh Hasina had previously declared that Comilla would not become a division.
However, Comilla will now be declared a division.
“We will implement this quickly. Work on this is underway.”
He made these remarks at a reception event organized by the people of Muradnagar at the DR High School grounds in his own upazila of Muradnagar on Saturday afternoon.
He further said: "Many political parties used to say that coming to power is impossible without India's blessing. But when Sheikh Hasina left power and fled to India, where was India then?"
Asif Mahmud said: "The owner of power in any political party is the people of this country. The youth of the new Bangladesh must prepare themselves to lead in the process of building the country."
Leaders from BNP, Jamaat, Hefazat, and civil society also spoke at the event.
During the program, financial assistance was provided to the families of 35 martyrs from Comilla district who were honored in July and August.
