A case was filed under the Explosives Act, 1884 against 60 people, including former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud and former education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury, over shooting a pedestrian in front of Amtal Safina Hotel in the port city on August 4.
The victim, Mohammad Zahidul Hasan Fahim, a resident of the Paharika residential area of Khulshi, filed the case under the explosives act with Kotwali police station on Sunday night.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali police station Mohammad Fazlul Quader Chowdhury said police have accepted the case after receiving the statement of the plaintiff.
According to the case statement, the accused tortured Fahim with a machete, knife, pistol, revolver, hockey sticks, and bricks during the anti-discrimination student movement on August 4.
The complainant received treatment at New Life Hospital after the attack.
