Floodwaters have begun to recede in the Haluaghat, Dhobaura, and Fulbaria upazilas of Mymensingh.
However, the flood-affected areas are facing a severe shortage of food and clean drinking water, raising concerns about the potential spread of waterborne diseases.
Locals reported that from Wednesday morning until 10am on Thursday, water levels did not rise further.
In all three upazilas, relief operations are being carried out by the local administration, with support from the army, RAB, and volunteers. If there is no more rain, the water is expected to recede quickly.
Fulbaria Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO), ABM Ariful Islam, said: "The upazila administration has opened a control room for relief efforts, and we are working to deliver aid to those affected by the floods. Water levels have already started to drop."
Haluaghat UNO, Md Ershadul Ahmed, said: "The situation in the nine unions has improved somewhat, and if there is no further rainfall, the water will continue to decrease."
Dhobaura UNO, Nishat Sharmin, said that water levels have decreased in most areas, but there is still a shortage of clean drinking water in the flood-affected regions. Relief efforts remain ongoing.
Mymensingh District Relief and Rehabilitation Officer, Sanowar Hossain, said 63 tons of rice, Tk700,000, and 2,000 packets of dry food have been distributed in the flood-hit areas.
