Heavy rains and landslides have flooded 15 villages in Haluaghat and Dhobaura upazilas of Mymensingh, submerging fish farms and thousands of acres of crops.
The sudden rise in water levels has left roads underwater and homes inundated, halting cooking and causing significant hardship for residents.
In Dhobaura, the Netai River dam broke, leading to extensive flooding in several areas.
Local residents, fearing a larger flood, are struggling to cope as water continues to rise inside their homes.
Humayun Kabir, chairman of Dakshin Maijpara Union Parishad (UP) in Dhobaura, said: "The dam of the Netai River has broken, flooding roads and homes. People are in distress, but so far, no government assistance has arrived."
Sanwar Hossain, district relief and rehabilitation officer, confirmed the situation, saying: "Several villages in Haluaghat and Dhobaura upazilas have been flooded due to heavy rains and landslides. The government has allocated 10 tons and 20 tons of rice for flood relief in these two upazilas, and the distribution will begin by Saturday."
He added that further government relief measures will be initiated after assessing the full extent of the damage.
