A “high alert” has been issued at Chittagong’s Shah Amanat International Airport to prevent the spread of the mpox virus.
This directive was issued by the airport authorities on Saturday night, Group Captain Taslim Ahmed, director of the airport, confirmed on Monday morning.
In addition, a team of specialist doctors had been assigned to monitor the situation around the clock at the airport to detect any mpox cases, he added.
Three doctors and six assistant doctors were working in three shifts around the clock, Taslim said.
“Officials are checking every passenger using thermal scanners. However, no mpox cases have been detected so far."
The global spread of the mpox virus is increasing, raising widespread concerns.
