Protest in Tangail demands action over attacks on Hindu community

A protest rally demanding nine specific actions was held in Tangail on Sunday, addressing attacks, vandalism, and arson against homes, businesses, and temples belonging to the Hindu community.

The rally began at 5pm from the Boro Kali Mandir and proceeded through various streets of the town, culminating in a gathering at Shahid Smriti Municipal Park.

The event featured speeches from several leaders, including Samresh Pal, general secretary of the Tangail District Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council, Pradeep Kumar Goon Jhaantu, general secretary of the District Puja Celebration Council, and Bipul Dutta Polton, president of the District Hindu Mahajote, alongside Organizational Secretary Chandan Sutradhar.

Speakers called for a thorough investigation into the recent attacks on Hindu homes, businesses, and temples, demanding that those responsible be brought to justice.

They also urged for exemplary punishment for all crimes, including murder and violence against women.

Prior to the main rally, Sanatan community members from various upazilas and key locations converged at Boro Kali Mandir, from where they marched to the Shahid Smriti Municipal Park via Old Bus Stand, New Bus Stand, Bot Tola, and Kazi Nazrul Avenue.
