Some Chittagong Central Jail inmates tried to escape the jail premises at around 2pm on Friday.
An army team is working to control the situation.
Chittagong Central Jail's Senior Superintendent Muhammad Manjur Hossain said: “Some prisoners tried to escape by creating chaos. Blank shots were fired to control the situation. The army is working to control the situation on the spot.”
He added: “It is not confirmed if any inmates escaped from the prison or if there were any casualties.”
On August 5, an attempt was made to snatch prisoners by attacking the jail. At that time, the prison guards repelled the attackers by firing.
