BRUR provides financial aid to Sayeed’s family

The administration of Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) has provided financial assistance to the family of Abu Sayeed, an English department student who was killed during the quota reform movement.

A delegation from the university handed over a cheque of Tk750,000 to his parents in Pirganj, Rangpur.

Proctor Shariful Islam confirmed the matter.

He said, "Following the vice chancellor's (VC) instructions, the university administration has maintained constant contact with Sayeed's parents. The VC keeps in touch with Sayeed's family and has promised to stand by them."

“As part of this commitment, financial assistance has been provided. This support will continue," he added.

In addition to the proctor, others present included Tuhin Wadud, head of the Bengali department, Asaduzzaman Mandal, general secretary of the Teachers' Association, and Firozul Islam, president of the Officers' Association, among others.

Notably, on July 16, Abu Sayeed, a 12th batch English department student at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur was killed by police gunfire during the quota reform movement in Rangpur.
