A group of unidentified miscreants on Thursday shot two Nagad distributors and snatched away Tk60 lakh from them in Raipura, Narsingdhi.
The injured are Delawar Hossain, 50, and Shahin Mia, 25. Both of them are working in the Narsingdi office of Nagad.
Narsingdi branch Distributor Shahid Mia said: “They were going from Narsingdi to Raipura on a motorcycle. When they reached Hasnabad Bazar area of Amirganj Union, two miscreants blocked their way. At one point the miscreants tried to snatch the bag of money from them.
“When the Nagad employees resisted, they first shot the motorcycle driver Supervisor Delwar in the stomach and the right hand and snatched away the money bag," he added.
Locals rescued them and took them to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital. After primary treatment in the emergency department of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, they were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
Nusrat Sharmin, a doctor in the emergency department of Narsingdi Sadar Hospital, said that the two victims were brought to the hospital around 10:30am. Delwar, who was shot in the stomach, has been referred to Dhaka as his condition is serious.
How deep the bullet penetrated, could not be confirmed. Shahin, who was shot in the right hand, was admitted, but his colleagues took him to Dhaka along with Delwar, she added.
Raipura Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Safayet Hossain said: “Efforts are underway to identify the miscreants involved in the robbery. Police are investigating this serious incident. Those who are involved in this incident will be brought under the law.”
