Train derailment halts Dhaka-Jamalpur rail services

The engine and three coaches of a local train derailed in Jamalpur, causing the suspension of train services on the Dhaka-Jamalpur route.

The incident took place near the Sadar Upazila's Piarapur railway station on Thursday afternoon, said Jamalpur junction railway station's Station Master Sheikh Ujjal Mahmud.

He said the Mymensingh-bound local train from Dewanganj derailed and train services on the Dhaka-Jamalpur route remained suspended.

Meanwhile, a Dewanganj-bound Teesta Express train from Dhaka was stranded at Mymensingh junction station due to the incident.

A rescue train has left from Mymensingh. Train movement will be normal after the local train is salvaged.
