Dautaldia-Paturia ferry services resume after 6 hours

Ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia terminals have resumed after six-hours prompted by low visibility caused by dense fog.

Authorities suspended the services to avoid accidents when the fog density increased around 4:20am and resumed them after the fog started to dissipate at around 10:40am on Sunday.

Hundreds of vehicles were stuck at the terminals owing to the prolonged suspension, causing suffering to passengers as well as drivers in the cold weather.

Khorshed Alam, assistant manager, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Daulatdia point, said: “The decision was taken to suspend the ferry service due to dense fog.”

He said: “Eleven small and big ferries are transporting vehicles on the route. However, due to adequate ferries, the pressure on the terminals will be reduced in a while.”
