4 UPDF members shot dead in Khagrachhari over establishing dominance

Four members of the United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) have been killed by miscreants in Khagrachhari allegedly over establishing dominance.

The incident took place at Anil Para area at around 10pm on Monday, said Shafiul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Panchhari police station.

The deceased were identified as Bipul Chakma, former president of UPDF-supported Pahari Chhatra Parishad (PCP), Sunil Tripura, central vice-president of PCP, Liton Chakma, leader of Democratic Youth Forum and Rohin Tripura, a member of UPDF.

Two people, UPDF organizers Hari Kamal Tripura and Nitidutta Chakma, are reportedly missing.

Police have reached the spot and details will be known after recovering the body, the OC said. 

It is suspected that the rival UPDF (Democratic) has carried out the attack.
