Two vehicles torched in Sylhet, Bogra after polls schedule

Unidentified people on Wednesday night set two vehicles on fire in Sylhet and Bogra after announcing the election schedule amid the countrywide 48-hour blockade enforced by BNP-Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties.

The attack on a three-wheeler, locally known as Leguna, in the Daspara area of Sylhet, was reported around 8:43pm, said Fire Service and Civil Defence Media Cell Station Officer Talha Bin Jashim.

Responding to the call, two firefighting units from Sylhet Cantonment Fire Station rushed to the spot to douse the fire, he said.

Miscreants torched a covered van in the Shakpala area of Bogra around 8:55pm.

One firefighting unit from Bogra Fire Station rushed to the spot and put out the flame, said the fire service officer.

For the fifth time, BNP, Jamaat and like-minded opposition parties are enforcing a countrywide road, rail, and waterway blockade to press home their one-point demand ahead of the national election.
