Police have recovered the partially decomposed bodies of two unidentified men washed away by the tide on the beach of Teknaf's St Martin's Island in Cox's Bazar, police said.
The bodies were found on the beach about 4km south of St Martin's Jetty, around 8am on Friday.
Police estimated one man's age at 35 and the other is believed to be 28.
Teknaf Model police station Officer-in-Charge Syed Zubair confirmed the matter.
Quoting the locals, he said: “Two half-decomposed bodies were washed away during the tide on Friday morning. However, the identity of them was not immediately known.”
They are believed to have been involved in an accident at sea, OC Zubair said.
He added that the fingerprints and DNA of the body have been preserved. Necessary action will be taken after preparing the autopsy report.
