The district administration lifted the ban on the movement of all kinds of boats or water transports in Rangamati’s Kaptai Lake on Monday.
Additional District Magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun confirmed the matter on Sunday night.
He said that the primary means of communication between the six upazilas of the district is by engine-powered boats. The ban has been lifted to maintain communication.
“However, the movement of tourist boats will remain suspended until further notice,” he added.
On Saturday, the Rangamati district administration imposed a restriction on all kinds of boats in Kaptai Lake until further notice.
It issued a warning notice signed by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mosharraf Hossain Khan on Saturday afternoon.
According to the notification, due to ongoing heavy rains and landslides in Rangamati, for the safety of life and property, the movement of all types of waterways vehicles in Kaptai Lake will be banned from Saturday morning until further notice.
