State University of Bangladesh hosts seminar on education perspectives in Mymensingh

State University of Bangladesh (SUB) has organized a seminar titled “Mymensingh in the Perspective of Education” where the speakers emphasized the importance of quality education.

The seminar was held in the auditorium of Mymensingh District Council recently, according to a press release.

The speakers of the seminar stressed saying there should be no compromises when it comes to educational quality if the plan is to develop future leaders. 

The seminar was attended by Bangladesh Agriculture University (BAU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Lutful Hssan and Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AHM Mustafizur Rahman, as the chief guests in the inaugural and working sessions of the seminar, respectively. 

Prof Dr Md Anwarul Kabir, the vice-chancellor of SUB, presided over both sessions.

The keynote paper of the seminar was presented by Swapan Dhar, the head of the Department of Bengali at Mymensingh Commerce College. 

Prof Dr Md Anwarul Islam, former vice-chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Prof Dr Gazi Hassan Kamal, chairman of Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education in Mymensingh, Prof Dr Md Amanullah, the principal of Anandomohon College, also took part in the discussions.

During his speech, Prof Anwarul Islam mentioned that the literacy rate and engagement in off-farm activities among the people of Mymensingh has not been substantially increased due to their introverted agro-oriented character.

However, these people have contributed a lot to the agricultural production of the country, he added.

Prof Lutful Hassan noted that the BAU alumni have been dominating agricultural research and education around the world.

Later, Prof Mustafizur Rahman expressed his gratitude to SUB for organizing such a significant seminar in Mymensingh.

Prof Dr Md Anwarul Kabir gave a brief history of Mymensingh in his long speech by giving a chronological account of events. As well as citing various historical paths and events, he also cited a wide range of references in this regard.

Among others, SUB’s Head of Architecture Dr Sajid Bin Doza, CDC Director Abu Taher Khan, and Associate Professor of Food Engineering and Technology Dr Shafiur Rahman also took part in the discussions.

About 70 teachers from different colleges in Mymensingh, vice president and general secretary of Mymensingh Press Club, local media, and many dignitaries attended the seminar.
