4 workers abducted by KNF in Bandarban

Members of Kuki-Chin National Front (KNF) have allegedly kidnapped four construction workers at gunpoint in Ruma upazila of Bandarban.

Although this incident took place in the Bagalek area of Ruma on Friday morning, the matter only came to light on Saturday morning.

The abducted workers are Idris, Awal, Jasim and Ripon Barua.

According to the police and locals, KNF separatists kidnapped the four workers early on Friday. Later in the afternoon, they freed Jasim and Ripon.

Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ruma police station, said they have heard about the abduction but no complaints have been filed yet.

Ruma Upazila Nirbahi officer (UNO) Sayed Mahbubul Haque said: “KNF members kidnapped four road construction workers on Friday. Although two workers were released in the afternoon, the remaining two are still with them.”

Earlier on March 17, a construction contractor, Sergeant (retd) Anwar, was abducted by KNF members. He was released after 15 days.
