Cyclone Mocha: Landslide threat looms in Rangamati

With Cyclone Mocha approaching Bangladesh, there is a risk of heavy rainfall and landslides in the Rangamati district. 

The district administration has directed the people living on the slopes of Rangamati Hills to take refuge in shelters.

The deputy commissioner in a notification has ordered to movement of any vessel in Kaptai Lake from 4pm on Saturday until further notice.

The notification also informed that the Cyclone Mocha formed in the Bay of Bengal may hit the land anytime on Sunday. 

Locals in the Rangamati hill district have been instructed to stay in the nearest shelters as soon as heavy rains start.

According to district administration sources, 21 shelters have been kept ready in the city. Since afternoon, district administration, municipality and information office are conducting awareness campaign.
