A Comilla court on Tuesday convicted six people and sentenced them to death in a case filed over killing a college teacher in the city's Barpara area in 2010.
Additional district and session judge court no- 5 judge Jahangir Hossain handed down the verdict at 11am.
Public Prosecutor Rafiqul Islam said that the court pronounced the verdict against six accused among eight people.
One of the accused was acquitted as the charge against him was not proved.
Besides, another accused died during the trial.
According to the public prosecutor, the victim teacher Sujon was killed in 2010 in a pre-planned manner by the convicted people.
Three convicted Md Nayan, Md Kamal and Md Jamal tried in absentia.
Meanwhile, three others Mithun, Md Ilius and Jakir Hossain were in the courtroom during the verdict.
