Sitakunda oxygen plant blast: Probe body makes 9 recommendations

The district administration's probe committee has submitted its reports with nine recommendations on the explosion at the oxygen plant in Chittagong's Sitakunda area.

Rakib Hasan, additional district magistrate (ADM) of Chittagong district administration, confirmed the committee's submission of the probe report to the Dhaka Tribune.

He said that the report had been sent to the deputy commissioner (DC).

The report's details cannot be shared at this time. However, nine recommendations have been made to avoid such incidents, said the ADM.

Earlier on March 4, a probe committee was formed led by the Additional District Magistrate to look into the explosion at the Seema Oxygen Plant in Sitakunda.

The committee was given five days to submit the inquiry report.

Later, the committee extended the probe submission date by two days.

At least five people were killed and over 30 injured in a massive fire that broke out at the oxygen plant following an explosion in Kadam Rasul (Keshabpur) area of Chittagong's Sitakunda upazila on March 4.
