Thousands of tourists on Saturday gathered on the beach to see the last sunset of the outgoing year at Cox's Bazar.
Many people were seen taking photos of the final sunset of the year using their cameras and phones.
The entertainment centres along the beach were buzzing with tourists who came from different parts of the country to enjoy the majestic momet.
Every year, a large number of tourists gathers in Cox's Bazar to welcome the new English year. On this occasion, various events including open concerts were organized with the participation of famous artists.
But for the last 5/6 years, there has been no open event on the pretext of security. This has had a negative impact on tourist arrivals on this particular occasion.
More than 500 hotels and motels in Cox's Bazar have a tourist capacity of at least more than 200,000. However, this year the number of tourists is relatively less due to the lack of permission for tourist ships on the Teknaf-Saint-Martin sea route.
Mukim Khan, president of Cox's Bazar Marine Drive Road Hotel-Motel, Cottage and Resort Owners Association, said that in the past, there was more pressure on visitors to gather on the beach to wave farewell to the previous year. The absence of a concert or other significant event on the beach for thirty first night this year, however, is having an impact on the number of visitors.
Tourist Police Cox's Bazar Region Assistant Superintendent of Police Chowdhury Mijanuzzaman said a three-tier security measures have been taken at various tourist spots including beaches.
According to Cox's Bazar's Additional District Magistrate Md Abu Sufian, no event would be held in the open space adjacent to the seashore. However, cultural events might be planned directly by the hotel.
Thousands of tourists were spotted enjoying themselves on the beach while visiting Cox's Bazar city's Labani, Sugandha, and Kalatali sites on Saturday afternoon.
Additionally, crowds were visiting St Martin's Island, the Maheshkhali Adinath Temple, Ramu Buddha palli, the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Safari Parkand other locations.
