The Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League will hold its annual conference on December 18.
Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon, organizing secretary in charge of Chittagong Awami League and parliament whip, disclosed the information during a joint representative meeting on Wednesday afternoon.
Earlier, Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League had fixed December 4 to hold the convention.
However, Awami League President Sheikh Hasina called a rally on December 4 at the Polo Ground. So, Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League set the new date, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon said.
“When I later brought this up with the leader, she gave me the go-ahead to host a conference for the Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League on December 18,” he further stated.
The organizing secretary said aside from preparations for the Polo Ground rally, unit, ward, and police station conferences will be held.
“Everything will fall into place. After we finish everything, we hope to have a fair and wonderful conference on December 18,” Abu Sayeed Al Mahmood Swapon added.
Acting presidents of the City Awami League and Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League, Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury and AJM Nashir Uddin, respectively, oversaw the proceedings.
