Much to the delight of tourists, traffic movement to and from Sajek valley has returned to normal after remaining suspended for 10 hours due to a landslide on the Baghaihat-Khagrachhari road in Baghaichari upazila of Rangamati.
Army personnel and locals removed soil from the road and helped restore road communication at 2pm on Wednesday.
Dhaka TribuneAdditional Superintendent of Police Maruf Ahmed confirmed the matter.
The local residents said torrential downpour had caused the landslide.
Thousands of tourists had been stuck on either side of the landslide since the early hours of the day.
Sajek valley is usually crowded on holidays. Due to a government holiday on the occasion of Durga Puja, the biggest festival of Hindus, a large number of tourists are flocking to Rangamati.
But businesses in the valley said they could incur losses due to the landslip.
