The baby girl who was born during a tragic road accident on July 16 will be placed in a children’s home in Dhaka.
She will be sent to Chhoto Moni Nibash from Mymensingh Medical College Hospital at around 10am on Friday, said Deputy Director of District Social Services Department Md Waliullah.
The National Child Welfare Board has decided to place the child in a children's home under the full supervision of the government.
He also said that it had been decided to name the child “Fatima” as per wishes of the board and the family.
The grandfather of Fatima, Mostafizur Rahman Bablu, said that the family was happy at the initiative taken by the administration.
“Fatima will be returned to us after spending two years in the children's home. The entire family wanted the newborn child to be named Fatima. I am pleased that the deputy commissioner and the members of the committee respected our wishes,” he said.
He added that the administration had assured them of a building with two rooms and financial support for the newborn’s siblings Jannat and Ibadat.
According to sources, the baby is now in good health.
Her right arm was fractured in two places when she was born on the road.
On July 16, a road accident left three of the child’s family members, including her parents, dead on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway.
