A man and his son were killed in a road accident on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Kandigaon area under Nabiganj upazila of Habiganj on Tuesday.
The deceased are Yusuf Ali, 55, and his son Mohammad Ali, 5, residents of Kandigaon village in the upazila.
Sherpur highway police station OC Parimal Chandra Dev said the accident occurred when a Sylhet-bound speeding pickup van hit the duo in the area around 11:30am while Yusuf tried to save his son from running across the highway leaving Ali dead on the spot.
Later, critically wounded Yusuf was taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical
College Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries, the OC added.
