The deceased were identified as Abdul Aziz, 35, and his daughter,Jannat, both expatriates living in Saudi Arabia.

Locals reported to police after spotting the bodies in the river near the Kristapur area around 10am, said OC Mir Rakibul Hoqueof Sarishabari police station.

They had been missing since Tuesday following a feud over land between Abdul and his brother Mohammad Azhar, according to locals.

Abdul’s wife Rokeya Begum filed a general diary with the police on Tuesday.

Police suspect it to be a case of homicide. "However, the exact cause of the deaths will be determined only after autopsy," said the OC.

The bodies were sent to Jamalpur Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Police, meanwhile, detained four people including Abdul’s uncle and Azhar’s wife, for questioning, he said. “Besides, the process is underway to file a case in this regard.”

Abdul, who returned to Bangladesh a month ago, was scheduled to return to Saudi Arabia next Friday, added the OC.
