Three people, including an army personnel, were killed in a head-on collision between a truck and a Mahendra (improvised three-wheeler) in Rajbari on Thursday.
The accident took place around 3pm on the Dhaka-Kushtia Highway at Kalyanpur area.
Delwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) at Ahladipur highway police station, confirmed the matter.
The deceased were identified as Sujon, 34, Saiful Sheikh, 20, and Momin Pramanik, 24.
Momin was a member of the Bangladesh Army. Sujon was driving the three-wheeler. The other deceased was a passanger.
According to local people, the truck coming from Faridpur collided head-on with the three-wheeler leaving the trio severely injured.
They were rushed to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in Faridpur. All three injured died at the hospital, police said.
The vehicles involved in the crash were seized but the truck driver managed to flee, the OC said.
