Nearly two months have passed, but the police are yet to make a breakthrough in tracing the female NGO worker, who went missing from Bhuapur of Tangail on November 20.
Mira Khatun worked for Society for Social Service (SSS) and was collecting loan installments in Maijbari and Jhanjhania areas on that day.
She could not be traced after she started for Chandipur and Hindupara areas, said her mother Hosne Ara Begum. Later, a general diary was filed in the night.
From a press conference at Tangail Press Club on Saturday, Hosne Ara alleged that the police had not taken any effective steps to find her daughter, even though she had provided names of some suspects.
She also said that a number of people had been missing from the area since then.
“I want to know whether my daughter was killed or became a victim of enforced disappearance. She has two kids and it’s necessary to find her for their sake,” Hosne Ara added.
Mira Khatun's husband Rajib Mia, eldest son Miraj, youngest son Mukit and others were present at the press conference.
