No unfit vehicles can ply highways during Eid-ul-Azha this year, Additional Inspector General Md Shahabuddin Khan has said.
The law is strictly enforced against various offenses, including unfit, unregistered, and unlicensed vehicles this time, said Md Shahabuddin Khan, also the Highway Police cheif, while visiting the Dhaka-Tangail-Bangabandhu Bridge highway on Thursday.
He added that Highway Police has identified various challenges people face while travelling, including the increased flow of vehicles carrying sacrificial animals and cattle markets along the highways.
Dhaka Tribune“We have also identified the way to solve them,” Additional Inspector General Md Shahabuddin Khan said.
Moreover, he said they have kept the phone numbers of highway vehicle repair workshops, so if a vehicle breaks down on the road, they can contact them.
“On the occasion of Eid, the government, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the police headquarters and the highway police take joint initiatives. It is our responsibility to ensure public safety during Eid.” he added.
