The principal of a school in Kurigram’s Bhurungamari has been remanded over his alleged involvement in a Secondary School Certificate (SSC) question paper leak that resulted in the Dinajpur Board postponing four exams.
A Kurigram court granted the police to question Nehal Uddin Pilot Girls High School Principal Md Lutfur Rahman in custody for three days.
Kurigram Chief Judicial Magistrate Sumon Ali granted the remand petition on Thursday, Bhurungamari Police OC Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to Bangla Tribune.
Five teachers of the school along with the principal and office assistant were arrested over the matter.
The court has granted September 29 for the next hearing.
According to SI Ajhar Ali, the investigating officer in the case, it is important to question the principal to find out who else is involved in the matter.
Moreover, efforts are underway to arrest Abu Hanif, the office assistant who is currently on the run.
Meanwhile, the probe committee formed by Dinajpur Board has already finished investigating the matter.
However, they are yet to submit the report to the board chairman Md Kamrul Islam.
“The probe committee is preparing the report. They will submit it in a day or two,” Professor Kamrul said.
On September 20, question papers of the English 1st and 2nd paper of the ongoing SSC exams were at the Nehal Uddin Pilot Girls High School.
Police recovered the papers for six subjects from the room of centre secretary and principal Md Lutfor Rahman.
Tests on Mathematics, Physics, Agricultural Science, and Chemistry were subsequently postponed.
