The devastating fire that razed part of a warehouse of Ahyan Jute Mill in Khulna was brought under control after three hours of frantic efforts by firefighters.
The fire originated at warehouse No 3 of the mill located in Fultola around 9:45pm on Friday. No casualties were reported.
Around 12:45am, Khulna Divisional Fire Service Assistant Director Faruq Hossain Sikder said four units were able to take the blaze under control.
He added that it would take time to douse the fire completely because the warehouse, having a space of 26,000sq-ft in Fultola, was stacked with raw jute.
“We’re working to ensure that the fire doesn’t spread,” the official told Dhaka Tribune, adding that they had yet to learn about the reason of the fire.
