A truck has run over a CNG-run autorickshaw on the Naogaon-Rajshahi regional highway in Naogaon, leaving five people dead.
Naogaon Sadar police station OC Nazrul Islam said the Rajshahi-bound truck rammed into the three-wheeler coming from the opposite direction on Friday morning and later fell into a roadside ditch.
Five people on the autorickshaw died on the spot while another person was hospitalized. The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately.
The OC said the police had confiscated the two vehicles, but the truck driver had managed to flee the area.
According to locals, four of the five deceased were teachers who were on their way to the teachers’ training institute in Naogaon.
