Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is set to visit the Sylhet region to inspect the flood situation.
The premier will fly out to Sylhet on a helicopter on Tuesday morning, her Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim confirmed on Sunday.
“We are yet to receive her program,” said Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Md Mojibur Rahman.
The deputy commissioner confirmed that State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief Md Enamur Rahman and the relief secretary are likely to visit Sylhet on Monday.
Moreover, the disaster management and relief ministry has allocated Tk1 crore for the flood-affected region.
Over 4 million in the northern region of Sylhet and Sunamganj have been marooned due to one of the worst floods in the history of the region. So far only a 100,000 have been evacuated.
The prime minister has already allocated Tk20 crore for the flood-hit people in the region.
The government also allocated Tk2.60 crore for the flooded regions.
In addition, Tk10 lakh, 100 tons of rice, 4,000 packets of dry foods have already been sent to the districts which have been flooded newly.
Moreover, the government on Friday deployed army troops to help Sylhet tackle its deteriorating flood situation.
