4 die of diarrhea in Bandarban’s Thanchi

As many as four people have died of diarrhea in the remote Thanchi Upazila in Bandarban.

Over 50 people have been affected in between June 7 to June 11.

The deceased are Mentang Mro, 55, Krayen Mro, Langing Mro and a 12-year old.

According to Remakri Union Chairman Muishithui Marma Rony, diarrhea outbreaks have been reported in around five villages in the last week.

Local sources said that the outbreak was caused by contaminated water due to a shortage of clean water.

Upazila Health Complex Health and Family Planning officer Dr Md Wahiduzzaman Murad said that they have supplied an adequate amount of medicines, water purification tablets, mosquito nets, and malaria test kits to the locals.

However, the health workers are struggling to provide adequate care to those in the remote areas.
