Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League council on October 1

The Awami League’s Chittagong Metropolitan unit will hold its council on October 1,  Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has said.

He made the announcement at a convention centre in the port city's Kazir Dewri area on Wednesday.

Mahbubul Alam Hanif said that the conference of all metropolitan Awami League units, wards, and police stations would be completed by October.

Through the council on October 1, the Awami League will emerge in a new shape in Chittagong.

Stating that the organization was being reshaped, he said, the main strength of the Awami League was the common people.

“The Awami League wants to come to power in the next elections again.  For this, qualified leaders and activists from the field need to be recognized, people who won’t shift their views at random,” he added.

The central leader of the Awami League said the party had transformed Bangladesh from a poor country into a developed country. “If we win the election again, Bangladesh will become a middle-income country in 31 years.”

Mentioning that the BNP was constantly lying, Mahbubul Alam Hanif said it was trying to create a turbulent situation by confounding the people of the country. The BNP opposed the country's progress and wanted to project it as a failing state.

Acting President of Chittagong Metropolitan Awami League Mahtab Uddin Chowdhury presided over the function, while General Secretary AJM Nasir Uddin conducted the function.

Acting Central Organizing Secretary of Chittagong Division Whip Abu Saeed Al Mahmud Swapan, Deputy Minister of Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nawfel, Central Secretary for Finance and Planning Begum Wasika Ayesha Khan, Central Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Central Secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives Begum Faridunnahar Laili, and Central Deputy Publicity and Publication Secretary Aminul Islam Amin also spoke on the occasion.
