Two people were killed and at least 10 others sustained injuries as the followers of two locally-influential persons in Boalmari of Faridpur engaged in sporadic clashes on Tuesday afternoon.
The deceased are Akidul Molla, 46, and Khairul, 45, of Chardoitorkathi village.
On Eid day, the violent clashes took place over establishing supremacy in Gohailbari area under Ghoshpur Union after Zohr prayers around 2pm.

The critically injured were identified as Masud Ahammed, 40, his brother Alamgir Ahamed, 50, Md Rajibul Islam, 30, Kader Molla, 40 and Sohel Molla, 20. They were admitted to Boalmari Upazila Health Complex.
Assistant Police Superintendent Sumon Kar confirmed the matter.
Akidul was pronounced dead at Boalmari Upazila Health Complex while Khairul died while being rushed to Faridpur Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical College Hospital.
The two rival groups are led by Relief and Social Welfare Affairs secretary of local Awami League Md Mostafa Zaman Siddique and Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Arif Khalasi.
According to police and locals, Mostafa, also a former chairman of Ghoshpur Union, had enmity with Arif Khalasi of Alfadanga over supremacy in the area for over 10 years.
Last month, the parties in conflict contested for posts in the Gohailbari High School management committee where Mostafa won and Arif lost.

Mostafa alleged that a gang of 10 to 12 people led by Arif Khalasi and his brother Sharif Khalasi attacked with locally-made weapons when he was at his office at Gohailbari Bazar along with his supporters.
Two of his followers died in the attack and 10 to 12 others sustained injuries, he added.
ASP Sumon Kar confirmed Mostafa’s claims, adding that those killed and injured were all supporters of the AL leader.
Additional police have been deployed in the area.
According to the district police, incidents of violent clashes over supremacy in different areas of Saltha and Boalmari upazilas have risen recently. Several people have been killed and over a hundred people sustained injuries in the clashes.
