One person died and over a 100 were injured in a clash that broke out between locals of two villages in Sylhet’s Jointiapur Upazila.
The deceased has been identified as Saleh Ahmed, 24, a madrasa teacher, Sylhet Additional Superintendent of Police Lutfar Rahman told Dhaka Tribune.
The six-hour clash over a land dispute was announced on a megaphone beforehand, authorities said.

He bought the land from the heirs of late Azizur Rahman who was a resident of Hadapara village.
On Saturday, when Rashid went to visit the land, locals at Hadapara allegedly harassed him leading to tensions between the people of the two villages.
On Sunday, at around 1am, locals of Hadapara and Lamashyampur engaged in a clash after making a public announcement.
