A college student in Sariakandi of Bogra has committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of a room on Wednesday, followin which his girlfriend also took poison.
The incident took place in Kutubpur Union of the upazila.
Sagar Sarka, 17, had a love affair with Nijhum Akhtar, 14, say local people.
They said that the duo met in the morning and engaged in an altercation.
Later, Sagar returned home and committed suicide. Hearing the news, Nijhum took poison to embrace to same fate.
Family members rushed the the boy to a local hospitals but doctors could not save his life.
Miizanur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) at Sariakandi police station, confirmed the matter.
Nijhum was undergoing treatment at another hospital, the OC said.
