3 die in Sylhet road accident

Three people, including a mother and a daughter, were killed in a road accident on the Sylhet-Dhaka highway on Wednesday afternoon.

The accident took place in front of Lalabazar School and College on the highway at 4.30pm.

The deceased were identified as Shamim Miah, 35, of Kurua area of Osmaninagar in Sylhet, Rahela Begum, 50, of Chansikapon village in Bishwanath and their daughter Kamrunnesa Shipa, 20.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police BM Ashraf Ullah Taher said a CNG autorickshaw heading to Sylhet was hit by a bus of Habiganj Express coming from behind.

At that time, the autorickshaw hit the back of a covered van in front. Autorickshaw driver Shamim and passenger Rahela died on the spot. Shipa died after being brought to the hospital, he added.

On 26 February, eight people, including a doctor, were killed in a road accident at Rashidpur near Lalabazar on the same highway.
