2 arrested with 1,300 bottles of phensedyl in Hili

Police have arrested two youths with 1,300 bottles of Indian phensedyl in a special anti-drug operation in Hili, Dinajpur.

Police arrested the youths with the phensedyl from the Madhya Basudebpur area of Hili at 3:30am on Saturday.

The arrested were identified as Emon Hossain, 25, son of Babul Hossain, and Mashiur Rahman, 24, son of Mofiz Uddin of Naodapara village in Hili.

Hakimpur police station OC Ferdous Wahid said a special police team was deployed in the Madhya Basudevpur area of the Hili border, acting on a tip off that a large contingent of drugs could be smuggled into the country from India.

After conducting a search, Emon and Mashiur were detained with 1,300 bottles of phensedyl.

A case has been filed against them under the Narcotics Control Act and the two were sent to a Dinajpur court on Sunday morning.

They are both notorious drug dealers and have been in the business for a long time, according to the OC.

OC Ferdous Washid further said Hili is a border area where it is difficult for police alone to monitor drug trafficking.

He urged all administrations to work together to combat drug smuggling, and said the police would continue anti-drug operations.
