Two clinics, a doctor’s chamber and a diagnostic centre have been sealed off by a mobile court as the authorities concerned failed to show valid documents.
The Department of Narcotics Control sealed off the Mind Rehabilitation Center in Chittagong’s CDA residential area of Agrabad on Tuesday for operating illegally without a licence.
Besides, the upazila administration also shut a clinic, a diagnostic centre and a doctor’s chamber in Anwara upazila of the district for different irregularities on Tuesday.
Rasheduzzaman, deputy director of Narcotics Control Department Chittagong Metro, said Mind Rehabilitation Center was operating illegally without a licence so the mobile court sealed it off during the raid.
Imran, the owner of the mental health centre, could not be found during the operation. Rasheduzzaman said that legal action would be taken against owner Imran.
Deputy Director Rasheduzzaman said there were a total of 12 mental patients in the mental health centre. Three of them were taken away by their respective parents.
The remaining nine have been handed over to the city’s Panchlaish Government Healing Centre, he added.
Meanwhile, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sheikh Jubayer Ahmed during a raid in Battali area of Anwara Upazila on Tuesday sealed off Ideal Clinic, Public Service Diagnostic Centre and Dr Nazrul Islam’s chamber due to various irregularities including failure to show licence for operation.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Abu Zahid Mohammad Saifuddin was present at the time.
