Myanmar returns 18 Bangladeshis, 1 Rohingya

On Thursday, 18 Bangladeshis were repatriated along with a Rohingya man, after serving their jail terms in Myanmar. Representatives of Myanmar immigration department handed over the 19 people to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) after a meeting around 1:30pm. BGB Battalion-34 Commander Lt Col Monjurul Hasan Khan said: “Of the returnees, seven were held while catching fish in the Bay. Police would send them to their relatives,” the BGB official said. According to him the meeting was held in Myanmar's bordering Dhekibonia area, which is opposite to the Ghumdum border at Naikhyangchhari upazila in Bandarban.
