Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has said mild heat wave is sweeping over different regions of the country and predicted it is likely to continue at some places.
The Met Office on Monday said regions of Gopalganj, Rangamati, Chandpur, Srimangal, Pabna, Nilphamari, Mongla, Satkhira, Jessore, Patuakhali, and Bhola are experiencing the mild heat wave.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged around the country, it said.
In a forecast for the next 24 hours commencing at 9am, the BMD said light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong, and Sylhet divisions.
Weather may remain dry with partly cloudy skies elsewhere over the country.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and moderate over north Bay.
The country's maximum temperature on Sunday was recorded 36.6°C at Chandpur and the lowest one on Monday was recorded 22.7°C at Tetulia.
The sun will set at 5:34pm on Monday and will rise at 5:55am on Tuesday in Dhaka.
Maritime ports asked to hoist signal 1
Meanwhile, the Met Office on Monday asked the maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra to hoist distant cautionary signal 1 due to depression formed in the Bay of Bengal.
The depression over west-central Bay and adjoining east-central bay moved west-northwestwards over the same area.
At 6am, it was centered about 1,086km southwest of Chittagong port, 1,046km southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 941km southwest of Mongla port, and 951km southwest of Payra port, said a Met Office bulletin.
It is likely to intensify further and move in a west/northwesterly direction.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44kms of the depression centre is about 40kph rising to 50kph in gusts/squalls.
Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the north Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution.
They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea, the bulletin added.
