Md Rafiul Alam, former additional commissioner (land) of Faridpur upazila in Pabna, has been appointed as the new Ghoraghat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) in Dinajpur.
Confirming this on Thursday, Md Rafiul said that before being promoted, he was an additional commissioner in the deputy commissioner's office in Cox's Bazar, Kurigram, and Rangpur districts.
His current UNO post was previously ocupied by Wahida Khanam who survived a murder attempt at her official residence in Dinajpur on September 3.

On Thursday, she was discharged from the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital.
“She has made a good recovery. The brain surgery conducted on her was successful. Now she can walk but it’ll take one or two more weeks for her to fully recover,” reported UNB on Thursday, citing Dr Mohammad Zahed Hossain, chief of the Neurotrauma Department.
Wahida will be taken to the Centre for the Rehabilitation of the Paralysed (CRP), Mirpur for further treatment. “It’ll take nearly another month for her to return to a normal life,” Zahed added.

UNO Wahida and her father were seriously injured in the murder attempt in her home on the Upazila Parishad premises on September 3.
They were both initially taken to Rangpur Medical College and Hospital. Later, UNO Wahida was airlifted to Dhaka and admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences & Hospital.
On September 19, Wahida Khanam, was made officer on special duty (OSD) while her husband Mezbaul Hossain, a UNO in Rangpur's Pirganj, was also transferred and made senior assistant secretary in the Health Services Division of the Ministry of Health in Dhaka.
