Sinha murder: 4 accused cops, 3 suspects taken into RAB custody

Rapid Action Battalion has taken seven people, including four accused policemen and three other suspects, into their custody in connection to the murder case of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan.

A team of RAB-15 took them from Cox's Bazar district jail around 10am Friday, confirmed Md Mokammel Hossain, superintendent of the jail.

The four policemen identified as Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Liton Miah and Constables Safanur Karim, Kamal Hossain, and Abdullah Al Mamun were named accused among nine policemen in the murder case of Major Sinha filed by his sister Sharmin Shahriar.

The other three suspects Md Nurul Amin, Md Nezamuddina and Md Ayaj, were made prime witnesses in two cases which were filed against Shipra Debnath and Shahedul Islam Sifat, who were arrested following police reportedly shooting Sinha to death at a checkpost in Cox's Bazar's Marine Drive on July 31.

Previously on Wednesday, senior judicial magistrate of Cox's Bazar court granted a seven-day remand for the accused policemen and the witnesses.

RAB, however, is yet to take three top accused in the case -- including suspended officer-in-charge of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das and Inspector Liakat Ali -- in their custody for interrogation.
