Shipra Rani Devnath and Shahedul Islam Sifat, two companions of slain Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed in Cox’s Bazar, have sought time to speak before the nation of what they know about the killing of the former army officer.
They made the urge while speaking before the media at a hotel in Cox’s Bazaar on Monday night.
“Please pray for us. I and Sifat remain grateful to all of you. You were beside us and stayed beside us. This is all what we have to say now. We will tell you every detail in truth. Please give us some time. There are many rumours going on now. We do not want any misleading news,” Shipra told the press conference.
Shipra and Sifat were arrested after police filed separate cases against them. A Cox's Bazar court on Sunday granted her bail in a case filed under the Narcotics Control Act. Sifat also secured bail on Monday.
Demanding justice over the incident, Sifat said media reports of him being picked up by an unregistered car after being freed from Cox’s Bazaar jail was not true. He said the car belong to his family.

Sifat also refuted media reports that he was shot in the leg during the incident, saying: “I am in good health both mentally and physically. I have not been shot in the leg. We remain grateful to the state.”
Meanwhile, family members of Shipra and Sifat told the media that both were in good health.
On July 31, Major (retd) Sinha was killed in police firing at Baharchhara police check-post.
Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous, elder sister of Sinha, filed a case at Teknaf Senior Judicial Magistrate Court on Wednesday.
Major (retd) Sinha along with Sifat and Shipra went to Cox’s Bazar for making a documentary film on travelling.
Sifat along with Sinha was staying in a resort in Himchhari from where police detained Shipra.
Seven police personnel, including Teknaf police station officer-in-charge Pradeep Kumar Das and Inspector Liakat Ali, were suspended in connection with the killing of Sinha.
Other suspended policemen include Sub-Inspector Nandadulal Rakshit, Assistant Sub-Inspector Liton Miya, Constables Shafanur Rahman, Kamal Hossain and Abdullah Al Mamun.
OC Pradeep, Inspector Liakat and SI Nandadulal Rakshit were placed on a seven-day remand while the rest were sent to jail by a court on Thursday.
They all were accused in a case filed over Sinha’s murder by his sister with a Cox’s Bazar court.
