At least three members of a family have been killed in a road accident in Daudkandi area of Comilla.
The incident took place around 5am on Tuesday, police say.
The deceased are identified as Sirajul Islam, 80, his wife Jahanara Begum, 70, and their grandson son Abu Bakkar Siddik.
According to the police statement, a Chandpur bound private car carrying the three lost control and fell into a nearby ditch. The three passengers of the vehicle were found dead on the spot but the whereabouts of the driver is still unknown.
Confirming the incident, Daudkandi police station OC Rafikul Islam informed Dhaka Tribune that the deceased were returning to their hometown, Chandpur, from the capital.
“We recovered the bodies and the vehicle from the spot. We will soon hand over the bodies to the family,” the officer said.
