Over 4000 bottles of spirit seized after ten died drinking in Dinajpur

The Department of Narcotics Control (DNC) in Dinajpur seized 4,104 bottles of rectified spirit from a  homoeopathic pharmacy in the municipality town on Thursday.

The DNC have been conducting raids in different homoeopathic pharmacies in the district after 10 people have died overdosing on rectified spirit, colloquially known as 'Cholai mod' in the past three days.

A case has been filed at Birampur police station against Asad Sarkar, whose shop called “Sarkar Homeo Chikitshaloy” stocked the seized spirit, confirmed Inspector Md Lokman Hossain of Dinajpur unit DNC.

On Tuesday and Wednesday Abdul Motin, Mohsin Ali, Azizul Islam, Sohel Rana, Mono Miah, Amrito Roy, Shafiqul Islam, and his wife Monjuara Begum were killed after having such drinks.
